Stubborn Lumber Yard Fire Controlled in Orlando, FL

Feb. 12, 2024
Firefighters called for additional alarms so they would have enough water to douse the huge pile of wood and debris.

Orange County firefighters battled a stubborn fire in a lumber yard Sunday.

Large tree stumps and limbs are dropped off by contractors to be ground into mulch, WESH reported.

"The biggest challenge to fires like this is the amount of fuel we have to put out. It's 11 yards. So, it's nothing but firewood. It burns really well. So, it's just getting the right amount of water, enough water on the wood pile to extinguish this fire," Orange County Fire Rescue Public Information Oficer Brandon Allen said.

The cause of the three-alarm fire is under investigation.
